Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, “Jerusalem’s multi-cultural identity must be preserved to stop Jewishization policies.”
Speaking at Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial level meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan gathered together for demonstrating the support of Islamic world for the people of Palestine, Davutoglu said, “OIC should work harder for Palestininians to reach independence."
"Israel’s illegal settlement activities obstructed peace efforts," said Davutoglu.
Pointing out to the United Nation’s (UN) recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state in November, Davutoglu said that the process would be completed when Palestine becomes a UN member and a fully independent country.
“Jerusalem’s multi-cultural identity must be preserved to stop Jewishization policies,” said Davutoglu, emphasizing on Turkey’s helps to Palestinians including the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency’s (TIKA) $ 30 million worth program to aid Jerusalem and the Palestinians.
He added, Turkey will continue to focus its efforts on especially education, construction and health areas.
Davutoglu once again emphasized that the OIC meeting aimed at protecting Jerusalem’s freedom and being eternal capital of Palestine, and said, "Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al Maliki invited us for working together on this issue. Hopefully we will cooperate with Azerbaijan and OIC, and show our decisiveness on Palestinian cause."
Davutoglu also expressed Turkey’s continuous support to Azerbaijan for Nagorno Karabakh problem.
