Blondie to play Istanbul
New York-based band Blondie will perform in Istanbul’s Black Box concert hall on September 6 as part of their European tour to mark their 40th anniversary.
Formed by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, the duo popularized and influenced American new wave and punk music at the end of 1970s.
Performing for the first time in Istanbul the veteran band is expected to perform hits such as 'One Another Way,' 'Atomic,' 'Heart of Glass' and 'Call Me.'
The band released their tenth album “Ghosts of Download” on May 2014.

Norwegian director’s new film hits Turkish theaters
Scandinavian director and writer Eskil Vogt’s first feature film ‘Blind’ will be screened on Friday in Turkish cinemas.
Well-known as the co-writer of movies such as 2006’s ‘Reprise” and 2011’s ‘Oslo, August 31’ Vogt also received the Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014 for ‘Blind.’
The drama centers on a woman writer who recently lost her sight and retreats to the safety of her home along with her husband; the film deals with her thoughts in a surreal atmosphere.
Starring Vera Vitali, Ellen Dorrit Petersen and Henrik Rafaelsen, the movie received the Golden Tulip at 33rd Istanbul Film Festival.

Istanbul Salt displays ‘Summer Homes’ exhibition
Salt Beyoglu is hosting a ‘Summer Homes: Claiming the Coast’ exhibition between September 5 and November 16.
Summer homes in Turkey’s coastal provinces have been popular among middle-class families since the 1980s.
The exhibition focuses on summer houses used for only a few months every year and the “cultural invention” of that period.
The display was shaped after architectural, legal and literary research and focuses on written materials, drawings, photographs, films, models and furnishings.

New music festival unveils international line-up.
Istanbul’s new music festival GNCFEST’14 will bring together American rapper Pharrell Williams, Romanian singer Inna and British singer Rita Ora at ITU Stadium in Istanbul on September 7.
Singer and producer Williams is known for his band N.E.R.D. and the worldwide hit ‘Happy’. His latest album was released in March.
Romanian singer Inna is the first female singer to receive more than one billion total views on YouTube.
Turkish music bands Manga, Mabel Matiz and Model will also take the stage at the same event.

Turkish pop icon returns to Istanbul
Legendary Turkish singer Tarkan will take the stage for six nights at Istanbul Harbiye Open Air Theatre from September 4.
Born in Germany, the 41-year-old is considered by many to be one of the most popular singers in Turkey.
He has sold over 15 million records worldwide, according to his official webpage.
