Hindi Zahra to perform three gigs in Turkey
French-Moroccan singer Hindi Zahra, fresh from two Turkish performances in April this year, will host three more concerts in Turkey.
The 36-year-old singer is scheduled to take to the stage at Istanbul’s Volkswagen Arena on Oct. 17 as part of the Babylon Presets concert series. Well-known Turkish jazz singer Ceylan Ertem will accompany Hindi at the concert.
Hindi will perform at Ankara’s Hayal Kahvesi on Oct. 18 and at Izmir Arena on Oct. 20 on Turkey’s Aegean coast.
Zahra, who fuses jazz music with traditional Moroccan melodies, mainly sings in English but sometimes also in her native Berber language.
The multi-instrumentalist released her latest album, entitled Handmade, in 2010.

TED talks to focus on 'perceptions' on Oct. 17
Global conference network TED will held an independent talks under the name of "TedxTunali" in Ankara on Saturday.
12 contributors from various institutions and disciplines including psychology, art, business and media will perform series of talks about how perceptions are shaped in daily life by narrating unique stories as presentations.
Sponsored by US Embassy to Ankara and Global Shape hub in Turkey, the event will start with the opening speech by John Bass, US ambassador to Ankara.
The conference will be carried out at CerModern art center.

Akbank Jazz Festival starts on Oct. 21
The 25th edition of the Akbank Jazz Festival will take place in various places in Istanbul between Oct. 21 and Nov. 1.
“Akbank Jazz Festival has been a haven of sounds for the different varieties of jazz since the first day it came on to the musical scene of Istanbul and continues its innovative spirit,” according to festival organizers.
During the festival, 55 concerts will take place at 16 venues where English jazz-pop artist Jamie Cullum and the Christian McBridge Trio will perform.

U.K. documentary about troubled singer to hit theaters
British documentary film Amy will hit Turkish theaters on Friday.
Amy tells the story of singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse’s turbulent life until her death from alcohol poisoning in 2011.
The film was directed by British filmmaker Asif Kapadia.

Electronic-pop singer Oh Land to perform in Istanbul
Danish musician Nanna Fabricius, also known for her stage name Oh Land, will take to the stage at Istanbul’s Babylon Bomonti on Oct. 20.
The 30-year-old musician trained in ballet for almost a decade until she moved to her career in music after an injury.
Her debut album Fauna was released in 2008.
Fabricius released her latest album, Earth Sick, in 2014.
