Dutch metal band Epica to play in Turkey
Dutch symphonic metal band Epica will play three gigs in Turkey as part of the “100 percent metal” tour between Dec. 18 and 20.
Helsinki-based folk metal Finntroll will be a guest during the concert series.
The group’s tour will begin in Istanbul on Dec. 18 at Kucukciftlik Park, then at Izmir Arena in Turkey’s Aegean province of Izmir and lastly in Turkish capital Ankara at the Jolly Joker.
Founded in 2002 by Dutch musician Mark Jansen, Epica released its first album Phantom of the Agony in 2003.

Istanbul to host book-fair on minority culture
Turkey’s culture capital will host a book fair on Armenian and Greek culture between Dec. 19 and 20 in Istanbul.
Armenian Aras and Greek Istos publishing houses will gather booklovers and researchers.
The organizers said in a statement that the fair would be a “great opportunity to treat yourself and loved ones before the New Year”.
Booklovers will have access to more than 200 books at a 50 percent discount, added the statement.
The book fair will be held in the yard of Beyoglu Panayia Isodion church in Beyoglu district.

Istanbul Modern hosts environment exhibition
Istanbul Modern Museum will host an exhibition on the environment between Jan. 13 and Jun. 5.
Istanbul Modern describes the exhibition titled Till It’s Gone as “exploring artistic positions and approach[ing] the ecological issues and the world we live in”.
“Special preliminary program launches on Dec. 23 featuring the artist Yoko Ono’s large-scale installation ‘Ex It’ described as ‘life as a continuation’ by the artist,” said a statement from the museum.
