Confidence indices for services, retail trade and construction sectors decreased in September when compared to August in 2012.
TurkStat, Turkey's statistical authority, stated on Tuesday that confidence indices for services, retail trade and construction sectors decreased 2.8 percent, 0.2 percent and 2 percent respectively in September when compared to August in 2012.
The confidence index --which was 108.2 for services, 109.0 for retail trade and 86.8 for construction in August 2012 -- became 105.2, 108.8 and 85.1 respectively in September 2012.
Sectoral confidence indices can take value between 0 and 200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, while it indicates a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
The decrease in the services confidence index stemmed from the deterioration in business situation over the past 3 months and demand-turnover over the past 3 months. The decrease in the retail trade confidence index stemmed from the deterioration in business activity-sales over the past 3 months, while the decrease in the construction confidence index stemmed from the deterioration in total employment expectation over the next 3 months.
