Greece’s economic reform plans were submitted to its Eurozone partners on Tuesday, a spokesman for the European Commission confirmed.
Margaritis Schinas tweeted on Tuesday: “List of reform measures of Greek government received on time.“
The reform list, which must be accepted by Greece’s creditors, has now been released.
The main points of the proposals include: tax reform, combatting tax evasion, taking on corruption, measures to stop fuel and tobacco smugglers, reforms of the labor market, with specific reference to collective contracts and bargaining agreements.
Some of the social reforms that the leftist SYRIZA party had advocated in its election campaign are present. These include social welfare measures like housing guarantees and free medical care for the uninsured unemployed.
Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had declared victory after Friday's deal with the Eurozone partners, extending the current unpopular 240 billion euro bailout by four months instead of six months as previously suggested, subject to review by the creditors.
But the leftist SYRIZA party was elected on the promise that it would end the country's current bailout and austerity measures, and the climb down from this position is causing division within the coalition.
Eurogroup chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem told reporters on Friday that changes in the bailout process could not be permitted.
"Economic recovery cannot be put in danger, fiscal stability cannot be put in danger, financial sector stability cannot be put in danger,'' Dijsselbloem added.
