ANKARA
Major Asian indexes closed Wednesday with gains thanks to a strong rally in Alibaba shares as concerns over banking turmoil ease.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 1.1% to 3,378.37 points.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 increased 1.33% to 27,883.78 points.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, hiked 2.06% to 20,192.4 as investors embraced a restructuring decision of e-commerce giant Alibaba.
China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange, on the other hand, fell 0.16% to 3,240, and India's Sensex index went up 0.60% to close at 57,960.
The Singapore index gained 0.22% to reach 3,262.
