OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored version of its workplace artificial intelligence platform designed to help financial institutions conduct research, build financial models and prepare client materials.
The product combines the reasoning capabilities of GPT-6 Astra with built-in financial data and tools intended for investment banking and equity research, OpenAI said in a statement Wednesday.
It was developed through design partnerships with US investment banks Morgan Stanley and Evercore, which helped OpenAI identify challenges faced by financial institutions and shape the platform’s features.
ChatGPT for Financial Services includes premium datasets from providers such as Daloopa, PitchBook and LSEG News, covering earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals and private companies.
OpenAI said the data is indexed and hosted on its own infrastructure, allowing the platform to provide granular citations that enable users to trace financial figures and claims to their sources.
The platform is also being integrated with existing subscription services from S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva and Moody’s. The planned shared sign-in system will allow financial professionals to access data to which their institutions are already entitled.
OpenAI said it has also improved connections to commonly used financial data providers and offers an ecosystem of more than 50 connectors, including Datasite, Box, Preqin and Intapp.
It said GPT-6 Astra can interpret figures, tables and supporting notes in financial documents, conduct financial analysis and produce documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
On OfficeQA Pro, a benchmark measuring the ability of AI systems to locate and analyze information across complex US Treasury documents, GPT-6 Astra achieved a score of 69.9%, compared with 60.2% for GPT-5.6 Sol, according to OpenAI.
Administrators can publish approved Excel, Word and PowerPoint templates through the platform, allowing teams to turn their analyses into valuation models, research notes and pitchbooks that follow their institutions’ formats and style guides.
The product also builds on ChatGPT Enterprise’s security and governance features, including single sign-on, role-based access controls and configurable data-retention policies.
OpenAI said financial institutions’ business data is not used to train its models by default and is encrypted both when stored and transmitted.
Compliance teams can export supported workspace logs for auditing and investigations, while firms can control employees’ access to individual skills, applications and data sources.
ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions, OpenAI added.
