Income from tourism in Egypt last year decreased by 41 percent after the military coup and political unrest in the country, according to a report from the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF).
The report, which was submitted to Tourism Minister of Egypt Hisham Zazou, shows that Egypt's tourism income declined to $5.9 billon dollars in 2013, resulting in a US$173 million loss.
The report shows that foreign visitors to Egypt in 2013 declined to 9.5 million from 11.5 million in 2012. This reduction has an immense impact on the country's workforce and economy whose largest industry is tourism.
