TRABZON (AA) - August 1, 2012 - Turkey earned 1.7 billion USD by exporting 216,000 tons of hazelnuts in 11 months of 2011-2012 hazelnut export season.
Black Sea Hazelnut & Products Exporters' Association stated on Wednesday that 2011-2012 hazelnut export season began on September 1, 2011 and ended on July 31, 2012.
Turkey exported 215,595 tons of hazelnuts and earned 1.7 billion USD in that period.
Turkey exports hazelnuts to 90 countries.
159,502 tons of hazelnuts were exported to EU countries, while 22,760 tons to non-EU member European countries, 21,101 tons to overseas, and 13,232 tons to other countries.
Turkey had exported 262,903 tons of hazelnuts and earned 1.6 billion USD in 2010-2011 hazelnut export season.
