ANKARA
Turkey’s assets abroad increased by 1.8 percent in 2014 from the previous year, the Central Bank of Turkey said in a statement on Tuesday.
Assets abroad were up to $230.1 billion.
Liabilities also increased by 6.6 percent to reach $661.3 billion last year, according central bank's statistics.
In 2014, portfolio investments increased by $23.9 billion, and non-residents’ equity holdings were recorded at $61.9 billion, reflecting an increase of 18.5 percent compared to the end of 2013.
The total external loan stock of the banks was $94.2 billion at the end of 2014, an increase of 8.7 percent from 2013, while total external loan stock of the other businesses decreased 2.7 percent to $93.3 billion during the same period.
