Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was discharged from Milan's San Raffaele hospital on Friday after spending a month and a half recovering from a lung infection caused by chronic leukemia.
He left the hospital in a black car with his partner Marta Fascina, waving at journalists and photographers, according to footage broadcast by national TV.
“Go Silvio. We are waiting for you on the ground to fight together many battles,” tweeted Premier Giorgia Meloni.
The extended hospital stay of Berlusconi, 86, fueled speculations that his life could be in danger.
In recent years, Berlusconi has faced multiple health issues, including a heart attack in 2016 that his doctor stated could have been fatal, as well as emergency bowel surgery in 2019.
In 2020, he suffered some complications linked to COVID-19, which he said was “the worst experience” in his entire life.
