JERUSALEM
Thousands of Christians on Saturday gathered in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in East Jerusalem, where they believe Jesus Christ is buried.
The worshippers prayed and lit candles as they marked Holy Saturday, also known as Easter Eve.
The pilgrims walked to the church carrying crosses amid strict security measures taken by Israeli police.
Christians mark Easter to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
