MOSCOW
Joint UN and Arab League's Special Envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi on Saturday met with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
Brahimi's meeting with Lavrov was closed to the press corps.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Brahimi, Sergey Lavrov indicated that they held a fruitful meeting on Saturday.
"We agree with Mr. Brahimi on turning the tension in Syria into stability and to end violence in Syria immediately," Lavrov stressed.
"Our primary aim is to facilitate a cease-fire in Syria," Lavrov also said.
Brahimi, in his part, said that everyone thinking about Syria had to make contributions to end clashes in Syria.
"Our first goal is to end chaos and violence in Syria," Brahimi underlined.
If a solution is not reached, Syria may turn into a Somalia, Brahimi also said.
