The Jamaat-called daylong general strike across Bangladesh is continuing with the clashes between Jamaat Shibir and law enforcing agencies on Sunday.
Five people were killed during the nationwide down-to-dusk general strike in protest of execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
Three people were killed in northern district of Lalmonirhat as police opened fire to disperse the Jamat Shibir men when they were putting barricade on a road in support of today’s general strike. The deceased were identified as Monirul Islam (25), Abdur Rahim (22) and Saju Miah. Three of them workers of Jamaat and Shibir, a student front of Jamaat.
Manto Miah (35), a ruling party man, was beaten to death by miscreants in Lalmonirhat on Sunday.
Habibur Rahman Habi (35), a jamaat man, was allegedly killed by bullet fire in south-western district of Sathkhira on Sunday.
At least 10 people were injured in a clash between Jamaat workers and police in northern district of Rajshai on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, 13 people were killed on Saturday as Jamaat was in protest against execution of Quader Mollah. Earlier on Friday, seven people were killed.
