TBILISI
Former Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, has been arrested on charges of misconduct and incitement.
Leader of United National Movement, Merabishvili is accused of illegally hiring partisans, thwarting an opposition meeting in May 2011, and inciting the murder of a bank employee in 2006.
Merabishvili was appointed as prime minister on June 30, 2012 by President Mikheil Saakashvili. He resigned from the post on October 11.
Merabishvili could face up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
