ISTANBUL
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry held a phone conversation with National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCSROF) President Ahmad Jarba on Thursday.
Offering Jarba the condolences of U.S. President Barack Obama and the American people regarding the hundreds of civilians who lost their lives in the massacre conducted through the use of chemical weapons in Damascus's suburb of Ghouta, Kerry also provided information relating to the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council session which took place yesterday.
Kerry indicated that the White House would discuss the issue of the use of chemical weapons in the suburb of Ghouta during the meeting on Monday, according to the information an AA correspondent received from a source close to NCSROF President Jarba.
Kerry promised to put more pressure on the U.N. to urgently send a team to investigate the scene of the incident.
Expressing that the silence of the international community in the face of the Assad regime's massacres is unacceptable, NCSROF President Jarba voiced his concern over the slow momentum during the phone conversation with Kerry, repeating the demand that a no-fly zone be established.
Meanwhile, Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalid al-Atiye and United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also offered their condolences to Jarba and the Syrian people for the victims of the massacre during a phone call with Jarba, conveying that they supported the NCSROF and would pressure the U.N. to quickly investigate the massacre.
