Some of the militants who attacked a Pakistan Air Force base near Peshawar, killing 29, were identified as members of a Taliban group Sunday.
The names of five of the 13 attackers were released by a security source after they were identified by their fingerprints. They are said to belong to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and are from regions in northern Pakistan close to the Afghan border.
Friday’s attack on Badhaber base saw gunmen storm the perimeter. Sixteen of the military casualties were killed as they prayed at a mosque inside the base.
The Pakistani military claimed the attack had been planned in Afghanistan, something the Afghan government has denied.
