Seven Georgian troops were killed at a suicide attack in southern province of Helmand in Afghanistan on Friday.
Afghan Prime Ministry stated that a truck loaded with explosives was set off Friday morning just in front of a military base where Georgian soldiers accommodate.
Following the attack, Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania cut his Brussels talks in half and headed to Afghan capital Kabul where he came together with his Afghan counterpart Bismillah Khan Mohammad.
The meeting between Alasania and Mohammad was held closed to the media where Afghan minister offered his condolences to the Georgian counterpart.
With this last incident, the number of killed Georgian troops in Afghanistan rose to 30. Georgia has 1,570 non-NATO soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
Moreover, Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, and made a statement over their web site which said that a military base was targeted with a truck loaded with explosives in Helman.
