The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon demanded the release of four UN peacekeepers seized earlier on Tuesday while on a patrol in the Golan Heights.
Ban's speaker Martin Nesirky stated that the secretary-general condemned the incident and urged the rebels to release the peacekeepers immediately.
"Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade", a rebel group fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, claimed that it seized the four Filipinos for their own safety when it said the peacekeepers were trapped in the middle of heavy fighting in the region.
