GENEVA
Friday's closing session of the Syria peace talks held at the UN headquarters in Geneva is expected to be largely ceremonial, with government and opposition delegates expected to meet again on February 10.
Both sides are stuck and U.N. envoy Lakhdar Brahimi is expressing frustration that it had not even been possible to get agreement for an aid convoy to enter the besieged city of Homs.
Brahimi, said that the Syria regime and the SNC reached a "partial solution for Yarmouk refugee camp but no agreement on evacuation of children and women in Homs."
Brahimi also confirmed that some aid went into Yarmouk today at one o'clock local time.
The aid included 600 food baskets containing 61 kg food, enough to feed a family of five for a month.
The two sides - fighting a civil war - do not enter into direct dialogue but extends their views to each other via a specially appointed United Nations and Arab League Special Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.
Assad's delegation accepted earlier this week Wednesday to discuss the communique, but with some reservations.
It said all the issues should be dealt with one by one and the first topic should be “the fight with terrorism.”
On the other hand, the Syrian National Coalition opposition demands priority should be given to efforts to form a transitional government, which it sees as the key solution to the country's problems.
If the sides can agree to negotiation after wrapping up talks Friday, a new roun will start February 10.
More than 100,000 people have been killed and around nine million displaced sınce the outbreak of Syria's civil war.
Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq are hosting over two million people fleeing the fighting.
