Turkish Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis who is currently in the French capital of Paris for formal talks visited the graves of Turkish folk singer Ahmet Kaya and actor Yilmaz Guney in Père Lachaise Cemetery.
Emphasizing that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan embraced a republic with no restriction on freedoms, Bagis said, "Thank God our people have embraced a republic respecting freedoms like our Prime Minister."
Stating that even those who have attacked Ahmet Kaya because he wanted to sing in Kurdish were regretful, Bagis stated that Ahmet Kaya's dreams came true and there was Kurdish broadcast on state-run TV channel 24 hours a day.
Bagis left flowers on both Kaya's and Guney's graves.
