BALIKESIR, Turkey
Turkish coast guards saved 112 refugees, including women and children off the shores of northwestern Balikesir province's Ayvalik district on Thursday, official sources told Anadolu Agency.
Turkish coast guards were alerted about the presence of refugees by fishermen in the area.
The refugees were mostly from Syria and Afghanistan. They were taken to the command post in Alibey (Cunda) Island, from where they were taken to the Ayvalik Public Hospital for medical checks and later to the foreigners section of the Ayvalik police department.
