Eight PKK terrorists were killed in fighting with security forces in southeast Turkey, the military said Wednesday.
In a statement on its website, the Turkish General Staff said clashes in Sirnak province resulted in “eight separatist terror organization members” being killed in Cizre, close to the Syrian border.
Another seven terrorists surrendered in nearby Silopi district, the military added. In Suruc, Sanliurfa province, a further two PKK terrorists handed themselves over to security forces.
The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU - resumed its armed campaign in late July. Since then more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and around 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.
