ANKARA
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said a parliamentary committee would complete writing a new constitution end of March, adding the government would submit the draft to referendum once it secured the backing it needs for a plebiscite.
The draft needs the support of 330 to 367 lawmakers in a voting in the parliament in order to be submitted to a referendum. The ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party has 326 seats.
Ahmet Iyimaya, an AK Party deputy with the drafting committee, has said the writing of a new constitution could be completed end of March.
