EU funding programs on 58 different areas financed 3,039 projects developed by Turkish non-governmental organizations between 2002 and 2012.
EU programs reserved a budget of 386.6 million Turkish Lira for the projects, according to figures of Turkey's EU Ministry.
Municipalities became the most successful organizations which benefitted from EU funding programs. Municipalities ranked the top ten with a total of 304 projects worth of 99.7 million TL.
They were followed by small and medium scale enterprises (SMSE) with 654 projects worth of 47.7 million TL.
Associations, chambers, and administrations serving in villages followed the SMSEs.
Istanbul became the most successful province according to the amount of the funding.
Istanbul received 22 million TL fund for 178 projects, and was followed by Ankara which received 21.9 million TL for 189 projects.
