ANKARA
Turkish President Abdullah Gul urged more cooperation between Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
"We need to take steps that will strengthen our historical ties and remove physical distances between our countries. The cost of living in isolated environments will be a failure to fully materialize both our individual and overall potentials," Gul said in his opening remarks of a summit meeting with his Pakistani and Afghan counterparts in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
Gul said the three countries should take further measures that would boost economic, trade, political and cultural relations, adding that more focus was needed on the fields of communication and transport to create the necessary physical infrastructure in economic and trade ties.
