Around 555 kilograms (1,220 pounds) of methamphetamine were seized in Istanbul, the largest-ever haul of the illicit drug in Turkey, a security source said on Friday.
Seven suspects – all foreign nationals – were also arrested in raids in Esenyurt, Basaksehir and Sariyer districts, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
More than $40,000 in cash was also seized in the operation, the source added.
