BRUSSELS
Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that "those with stupid ideas to use their missiles in an attack should be worried by the Patriots."
Rasmussen's commments came on Monday in reaction to the remarks of Iran's Chief of General Staff, Hasan Firuzabadi that the "Patriots may lead to a world war."
Speaking at a joint press conference with the Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo in Brussels on Monday, Rasmussen underlined that he condemned the remarks of the Iranian Chief of General Staff Firuzabadi.
"Since the very beginning, we have made it very clear that the deployment of Patriot systems in Turkey was only for defensive purposes," Rasmussen noted.
I do hope that the Patriots would be a deterrent factor for countries who may think about firing missiles on Turkey, Rasmussen also said.
