LEFKOSA (AA) - 90th anniversary of the proclamation of Turkish Republic is being celebrated also in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with ceremonies.
TRNC President Dervis Eroglu, Parliament Speaker Sibel Siber, Prime Minister Ozkan Yorgancioglu, former president Mehmet Ali Talat, Turkey’s Lefkosa Ambassador Halil Ibrahim Akca, ministers and MPs as well as many citizens attended the first ceremony held at Dr. Fazil Kucuk Boulevard.
Eroglu said at the ceremony that if Turkey had not been founded, TRNC would not exist so they are proud, honored and happy.
President Eroglu also spoke on the talks between the parties in the island to solve the Cyprus question and said that the Greek Cypriot side makes re-start of the talks harder.
