US Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone has said they started considering Turkey a bridge on the energy in Iraq and they were very optimistic about that.
Speaking at the US-Turkey Smart Grid Workshop in Istanbul on Tuesday, Ricciardone said energy was always leading the economic relations of Turkey and the US. He stated the importance of conducting joint energy projects and added that such relations were much vivid compared to the past.
He said developing and implementing smart grids in Turkey was very important and they would contribute to enhancement of bilateral trade.
On the attack at the US Embassy in Ankara, Ricciardone said the attack could not be able to spoil the good relations of the two countries and as an answer Turkey and the US would continue to enhance their bilateral relations.
He said the trade volume among the two countries was not adequate and both countries would like to improve it.
Saying that several US companies invested in Turkey in the last two years, Ricciardone added they were glad that the national air carrier of Turkey (THY) increased number of its destinations in the US.
