Turkish EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and President of Science for Peace Umberto Veronesi spoke at the Science for Peace International Conference and both mentioned the importance of peace projects for the whole globe.
Minister Bagis said, "Some will do their best for not letting us receive our EU rights even though we do our best for it. We are aware of it."
President Veronesi stated that science can be used for spreading the peace around the globe and said, "Science unites. Science is an important factor for contributing to the world peace. Science is important because it opens the way for us to discover many things."
Italian Umberto Veronesi Foundation (FUV) organized "Science for Peace International Conference" which took start in 2009 and headed by Dida Kaymaz, President of the Life without Cancer Association and Turkish Representative of FUV. The Science for Peace International Conference is being held in Istanbul.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Veronesi said that three years ago they started the event in Milan and they aimed for kicking off an international movement.
Turkish Minister Bagis said, "As EU is a continental peace project, it is an important project for stopping nations to fight in Europe. More, Turkey's joining to this project will carry it to its globalization."
