A soldier was martyred and six others were injured during clashes between security forces and PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey, the military said on Sunday.
The Turkish General Staff said that the soldier died at around 12.20 p.m. local time (0920GMT) in Daglica area of Hakkari province, close to the Iraqi border.
The injured were taken to hospital, said the statement.
Six terrorists were also killed during the operation, which is ongoing, the statement added.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, more than 440 members of the security forces, including troops, police officers and village guards, have been martyred and over 4,500 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
