ANKARA
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt on Friday reacted to a news story appeared on Financial Times that Germany was lobbying to delay opening of talks in fresh policy areas in Turkey's EU membership accession talks after demonstrations in Turkey triggered by a development plan at a green area in Istanbul's city center.
"It would be truly shortsighted by the EU to limit engagement with Turkey now. We should do the opposite. It's a society in search for its future," Bildt said on his official Twitter account.
"Financial Times has been completely misinformed on Sweden's position on Turkey accession talks. Dubious sources in Berlin," Bildt said.
