ANKARA
Ahmed Tuma, the interim prime minister elected by Syrian National Coalition of Opposition and Revolutionary Forces (SNCORF), has stated that the primary goals of the government are to maintain security, welfare of the people and political stability.
Stating to Anadolu Agency that he has shouldered a heavy responsibility, Tuma said, "The priorities of the government will be defined in accordance with the demands of people. In this critical situation Syrian need security. Main goals of our government will be maintaining the security of public, improving the life standards and welfare of public, activating the civil society and institutionalizing democracy."
Elaborating on maintaining security, Tuma stated that this goal can be achieved by establishing the regular national army to protect people.
Tuma also stated that the army would maintain security of the region controlled by the opposition and then in the whole of Syrian soil. Besides, he said that they will establish the police force as well.
"The number of Syrian refugees reached 7 million. One of the main issues that the government would work on will be the refugee issue. We are going to cooperate with Turkey, Jordan and Iraq besides other international organizations hosting Syrian refugees," Tuma also said.
Praising Turkey for her role in hosting the Syrian refugees, Tuma thanked Turkey and stated that Turkey kept its doors open to refugees and helped them in a brotherly manner.
Regarding the central office of the government, Tuma stated that they are going to select the safest place among the regions controlled by the Syrian opposition.
