ISTANBUL
Chairman of the Tunisian Ennahda Movement Rachid al-Ghannouchi said on Saturday that the clashes in Syria were not between the Sunnis and Shiites but between the supporters of dictatorship and supporters of freedom.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) while attending an international conference titled "Arab Spring and Peace in the New Middle East: Muslim and Christian Perspectives" in Istanbul, al-Ghannouchi said that the remains of the old period in Syria was making efforts to prevent the process of change.
Touching on his country, al-Ghannouchi stressed that Tunisia was no longer a country in which political figures were banned from politics or with bans on the press.
Meanwhile, a member of the Libyan Fatwa Council, Ahmad Milad Gaddur, also attending the Istanbul conference, told the AA that the peoples in Arabic countries were forced to make revolutions by their leaders.
"Real Muslims are people who spread peace and security," Gaddur underlined.
