Turkey placed among the top 40 countries in the world in science, according to a ranking made by the Scientific American magazine.
Turkey ranked 15th in the percentage of PhD degrees in basic science and engineering to the total number of PhD degrees given in the country.
In terms of funds allocated from national income to the research and development, Turkey ranked 16th and 38th in the number of articles published in the most respected scientific journals in the world.
Turkey placed 36th in the number of patents granted.
