ANKARA
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali Ahmed Karti said that Turkey intervened to solve the dispute between Sudan and South Sudan.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) in the Turkish capital of Ankara, Karti said that Turkey offered projects so as to solve the issues between Sudan and South Sudan.
"Turkey is playing an active role to solve our problems with South Sudan and is helping us. Turkey offered projects to solve the dispute between Sudan and South Sudan. Turkey could play a crucial role in this regard," Karti noted.
Touching on the Abyei region located right between Sudan and South Sudan and one with rich sources of oil, Karti indicated that they agreed to hold a referendum in Abyei to determine which country the residents of Abyei want to join.
