ANKARA
Turkey's population increased to 75.6 million as of 2012-end, the country's statistics authority has said.
According to data published Monday by TurkStat, Turkey's population grew by 903,115 in 2012. Annual population growth rate decreased to 12‰ from 13.5‰ in 2011.
TurkStat said 50.2% of the total population are males (37,956,168 persons) and 49.8% are females (37,671,216 persons).
The country's most crowded city was Istanbul with a population of 13.8 million, which makes up 18.3 percent of the overall population in Turkey.
Ankara, the country's capital, followed Istanbul with 4.7 million people and Bayburt was the least crowded city with 75 thousand.
