The Turkish General Staff on Friday released new figures on PKK terrorists killed in ongoing southeastern military operations.
According to a General Staff statement, security forces neutralized four PKK terrorists in the Nusaybin district of the Mardin province on Thursday, putting terrorist death toll in the district at 229.
In addition, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were destroyed. "The number of destroyed IEDs reached 517," said the statement.
In Sirnak province on Thursday, six terrorists were killed, according to the statement, putting the number of PKK terrorists killed there at 202. "With the terrorists, one Kalashnikov rifle was seized and 18 IEDs were destroyed. The number of destroyed IEDs rose to 584," it said.
As for the military operation in Sirnak's Silopi district, the army said one terrorist was killed. "The number of neutralized terrorists rose to 8. In this operation, two IEDs were destroyed. The total number of destroyed IEDs reached 28," the statement read.
In Hakkari province, the Yuksekova district saw the surrender of seven PKK terrorists. "The number of terrorists killed in that district is 169," the statement said, adding that one shotgun, one grenade, gun cartridges, 16 propane tanks, and a gas mask were also seized in Thursday's operation.
It added that two IEDs were defused, which brought the total number of destroyed explosives in the district to 249.
