Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting with French President Francois Hollande in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of United Nations (UN) Rio+20 summit.
During the meeting, Erdogan and Hollande agreed to open a new page in bilateral relations, contribute to Turkey's European Union (EU) membership bid, and boost bilateral relations particularly economic relations.
Erdogan drew attention that the last time a French president visited Turkey was 20 years ago and invited Hollande. Hollande expressed positive views about the invitation.
Premier Erdogan and President Hollande also exchanged views on regional and international topics. They highlighted importance of respect to Syrian people's will as well as ensuring democratic transformation in Syria as soon as possible.
