TRIPOLI (AA) – September 18, 2012 - The Turkish school in Libyan capital of Tripoli has resumed education after a break of one and a half years due to the revolution.
School principal, Ramazan Guncu, told AA correspondent on Tuesday that he had come to Libya voluntarily and all the teachers at the school were happy to be in Libya and there was no security problem after the revolution.
Guncu said that they had around 170 students before the revolution and around 60 students registered for the new school year so far.
Saying that there are only two deputy principals at the school other than himself while 15 teachers were working at the school previously, Guncu stressed that they were waiting for other teachers to be sent from Turkey immediately.
Deputy principles Haci Aktas and Metin Donmez told that Libyans were also interested in the school but according to school regulations only Turkish students could register.
Turkish school was established in 1983 with the initiative of Turkish Embassy in Tripoli for Turkish families' children living in Libya.
