A Turkish soldier who was critically wounded late Tuesday during anti-PKK operations in the southeastern Diyarbakir province’s Sur district, has died, the military said Wednesday.
Earlier, Turkey’s military said that another soldier had been martyred and two had been wounded in the PKK attack which took place in the Sur district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement that one of the wounded had succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
It added that eight terrorists were also killed in Tuesday's operations in Sur and Mardin's Nusaybin district.
Parts of southeastern Turkey have been the focus of counter-terror operations and military curfews since December 2015.
The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 260 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
