ANKARA (AA) - More than one thousand people have lost their lives and the number of the injured hit six thousand due to political crisis and security issues in the first half of July in Egypt, Syria and Iraq.
Clashes and violence have been continuing in the Islamic world. Tensions in Syria flared in March 2011 during the onset of the Arab Spring and escalated into an ongoing civil war, which killed over 100 thousand people, while in Egypt, the number of people who were killed has exceeded 200 and more than 5 thousand people were wounded since President Mohamed Morsi was ousted on July 3 after mass demonstrations against his regime.
Since Morsi's overthrow, his loyalists have taken to the streets to demand his democratic legitimacy and reinstatement. However Egypt's armed forces fired on Morsi loyalists killing many people, leaving others injured.
Meanwhile fierce clashes between the Assad regime and the Free Syrian Army have been continuing since March 2011, which according to the latest United Nations (UN) figures killed more than 100 thousand people and made over one million Syrians flee to neighboring countries.
On the other hand , the blasts, which wounded scores more, are part of a months-long surge of attacks that is reviving fears of a return to the widespread sectarian bloodshed that pushed Iraq to the brink of civil war after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.
Suicide attacks, car bombings and sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shiites have killed 197 people in the first half of Ramadan and more than 500 others were injured.
Also militants have staged deadly assaults on United Nations compound in Mogadishu, Somalia, since the beginning of Ramadan. Somalia's al-Shabab militants claimed responsibility for assaults, which killed 14 people and wounded many others from African Union Mission (AMISOM).
A deadly suicide attack by al-Shabab militants hit Mogadishu Turkish compound on July 27 in which 3 assailants and a policeman were killed and four other police officers were wounded.
In Pakistan, clashes between Taliban and security forces and bomb attacks targeting particularly Shia Muslims are continuing, which killed 113 people since the beginning of July. Blasts take place in the country almost every day.
In Afghanistan, although the US is getting prepared to withdraw from the country by the end of 2014, tensions have not eased yet. 17 people were killed in bomb attacks in Afghanistan's western Herat province, while on July 23 three NATO soldiers and an Afghan interpreter lost their lives in a suicide bombing in Wardak province.
More than 20 people were killed in clashes in Russia's North Caucasus Republics of Dagestan, Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria. Russia is fighting against Caucasus Emirate which aims to establish an Islamic state in the North Caucasus.
In Libya, there has been tension between the government and armed militants. The number of attacks targeting officials from the army, judiciary and political activists has risen in recent days and 17 people were killed since the beginning of Ramadan.
