BEIJING
The death toll from a poultry factory fire in northeast of China rose to 120 on Tuesday.
The fire broke out early Monday morning at a slaughterhouse owned by the Jilin Baoyuanfeng Poultry Company in Mishazi Township of Dehui City which is about 100 km northeast of the provincial capital Changchun and about 800 km northeast of Beijing.
It was added, at least 120 people died and the number of injured rose to 70 when a fire burst at a poultry processing plant in Jilin province of northeast China.
According to China's Xinhua news agency there were close to 300 workers at the site when the fire broke out and and only about 100 of them were able to escape the fire.
Witnesses who spoke to China's Xinhua news agency stated that a black smoke rose after a major explosion in the area.
It was noted, the chicken poultry plant has about 1200 workers and produce up to 67 thousand chickens annually.
