WASHINGTON
The U.S.-led coalition carried out airstrikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, or ISIL, in Syria and a separate U.S. airstrike also struck the group in Iraq, U.S. Central Command announced Thursday.
According to a statement, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates joined the U.S. in the Syria strikes. However, the strike in Iraq was carried out by the U.S. on its own.
An ISIL garrison was destroyed in one of the strikes in the south of Al Hasakah, the far north-east corner of Syria. Another airstrike destroyed two ISIL tanks in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Two strikes north of Ar Raqqah, about 160 kilometres east of Aleppo, struck two modular oil refineries and an ISIL training camp.
Another strike in northeast of Aleppo struck an ISIL occupied building.
The statement also noted that one strike against an ISIL artillery piece in the west of Ar Raqqah was not successful.
In Iraq, one strike north of Sinjar destroyed two ISIL armed vehicles, while two strikes northeast of Fallujah struck ISIL fighters.
