ANKARA
A British teenager has been charged with terror offenses after his arrest Tuesday at Luton Airport, British police said in a statement.
Yahya Rashid, 19, from Willesden, northwest London, was arrested by "officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) at Luton Airport after arriving on a flight from Istanbul, Turkey," the statement said.
No further detail was given as to why Rashid was in Istanbul or if he had been deported by Turkish authorities.
Rashid was immediately taken to a central police station where he was charged for terror offenses.
According to the BBC, he has been accused of committing terrorist acts between Nov. 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015 and engaging in conduct with the intention of assisting others to commits acts of terrorism during the same period.
Earlier this month, a British woman was arrested by British anti-terror police after Turkey deported her to the U.K. Turkish police had detained her on suspicion of trying to cross into neighboring Syria to join Daesh.
