PARIS
More than 10,000 Daesh militants have been killed since the U.S.-led coalition began its airstrikes against the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday.
In remarks made to the France Inter radio channel, Blinken said: "We have seen enormous losses from Daesh”, adding that the militant group suffered “more than 10,000 since the beginning of this campaign".
Blinken claimed that the coalition forces had made "significant" progress against the group and termed the airstrikes "effective".
He also said that a large cache of arms and ammunition belonging to the militant group had been destroyed.
The death toll claims could not be independently verified.
