MOGADISHU, Somalia
The Qaeda-linked movement Al-Shabaab on Sunday claimed responsibility for a deadly car bomb explosion in Somali capital Mogadishu earlier in the day.
"The suicide attack carried out by one of our fighters had achieved its target of killing a number of US-trained forces," a movement leader was quoted by the pro-Al-Shabaab site Al-Andalus as saying.
At least four people have been killed and one injured in the blast, which took place in southern Mogadishu's Waberi district, Somalo government spokesman Ridhwan Hajji told The Anadolu Agency earlier.
Al-Shabaab had claimed responsibility for several similar bombings in Somalia in the past.
The group has been fighting against the government of Mogadishu for control in many of Somalia's regions for several years now.
