Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov extended an invitation to the Syrian opposition to attend the Geneva-2 conference on January 22.
“The main goal regarding Syria now is to ensure that the entire political spectrum of Syrian society will be present at the Geneva 2 conference,” Lavrov told journalists, while calling on the Syrian opposition to compose themselves and attend the conference in Geneva.
He stressed that Russia had fulfilled its responsibility by convincing the Syrian administration to attend.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will convene the Geneva 2 conference on Syria in Geneva on January 22.
